The Philosophy

There is no such thing as “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to health.

We are all unique and it’s important to seek out a customized approach that means your individual needs.  There are so many different paths that lead to health.  It’s important to embrace what works for you, and leave the rest!

Diets, restriction, and food rules don’t work.

When we force our bodies into starvation through dieting, we put ourselves in “survival mode”.  Not only does this wreak havoc on our metabolism, but it creates the perfect conditions for uncontrolled food cravings and overeating (HINT: it has nothing to do with willpower!)  Letting go of labeling foods as “good” or “bad” and accepting all foods without judgment is an important part of rejecting the dieting mentality.

The nutrition world can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.

It’s time that we get back to basics instead of being stressed out by the latest nutrition advice.  Using curiosity and mindfulness, we can discover what foods work best for our bodies.  I believe in gentle nutrition, which means no fancy ingredients or expensive supplements required!

Eating can (and should) be a pleasurable experience.

Diet culture wants us to see food as the enemy, but it is far from that.  Food is meant to be enjoyed without judgement or shame.  Learning how to slow down and truly savor your food is an important part of the journey.

The number on the scale does not determine your health...or your worth.

Despite our society’s relentless pursuit of thinness and the stigma that surrounds weight... size and weight have not been scientifically proven as useful indicators of one’s health.  Building a healthy relationship with your body means acknowledging that healthy bodies can come in all shapes & sizes.  This requires trusting that your body will be whatever shape it is meant to be.  It’s hard work, but the liberation that comes from accepting and cherishing your body is worth it!
